Pagely's Atomic control panel makes it very convenient to encrypt your site. However, you may have noticed after a successful installation of an SSL certificate, your site still loads over HTTP (port 80). This is to ensure that your site doesn't break.
Before continuing, we recommend that you first explicitly visit your site over HTTPS (https://example.com) to make sure that everything works as it should.
If everything looks good, you may follow these steps to force your site to load only over encrypted channels.
- Begin by logging into the Atomic control panel.
- On the left side menu, click on SSL to access the SSL Certificate Manager page.
- You should now see a list of SSL certificates that are currently installed.
Locate the site that you want to force HTTPS on and click the eye icon to the right of it to view the details for that certificate. - From within the Certificate Details page, you'll see a list of all domains attached to that certificate.
To the right of the domain that you want to force HTTPS on, click on the pencil icon to edit it. - You should now see the certificate details editor. From here, toggle the Redirect HTTP to HTTPS switch to On.
Once your changes have been made don't forget to save your changes!
To test your changes, open up a new Incognito tab in Chrome (or the equivalent in your preferred web browser) and visit your site. By using an Incognito tab, your browser will bypass any cached data it already has stored and your site should properly redirect to HTTPS.
